What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of alternative therapy that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. Reiki is derived from two Japanese words: "Rei" which means "universal" and "Ki" which means "life force energy". This therapy is based on the belief that there is a universal life force energy that flows through all things and that this energy can be harnessed to promote healing and balance in the body. Reiki has been practiced for over a century and is now widely used around the world a complementary therapy to traditional medicine.

Disclaimer: It is important to note that Reiki practitioners do not diagnose or cure medical conditions. Reiki should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment, and individuals should always consult with their healthcare provider for medical concerns.

What conditions can Reiki treat?

- Stress: Reiki is believed to promote relaxation and reduce stress levels in the body.
- Anxiety and depression: Reiki can help to calm the mind and promote a sense of inner peace.
- Chronic pain: Reiki may help to reduce pain levels and promote healing in the affected area.
- Insomnia: Reiki can help to promote relaxation and improve sleep quality.
- Other conditions: Reiki is also used to treat a variety of other conditions, including digestive issues, headaches, and immune system disorders.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki energy is believed to work by tapping into the universal life force energy that flows through all things. Practitioners of Reiki go through an attunement process which enables them to connect deeply with this energy. Practitioners harness and channel this energy to help balance the energy within a person's body.  During a Reiki session, the patient remains fully clothed and lies down on a comfortable massage table. The practitioner places their hands on or near the patient's body and uses a series of hand positions to channel the energy. This can help to release blockages in the chakras and promote a sense of calm and well-being.

What can I expect to feel?

Clients can expect to feel an abundance of relaxation and calmness. The energy flowing from the hands into the client's body can create a warm or tingling sensation. Patients may also experience a release of tension or emotional blockages. It's important to note that each person's experience may be different, but the overall goal of Reiki is to promote healing and balance within the body. Before and after each session, we will discuss where you are at in your healing and if you decide to attend multiple sessions, we will keep track of your progress toward your healing goals.
